Locked out?
Here’s what happens when you call
First, we make sure everyone is safe. If a child or a pet is locked in a car on a warm day, hang up and call 911. Police and fire can often get there faster than anyone, and it’s the right call.
For everything else, we’ll ask where you are, what kind of door or vehicle it is, and what lock you have if you know. That’s enough for us to quote the job and give you an arrival window before we leave.
When we get there, we check ID, then open the door with the least invasive method that works on your lock. For most standard deadbolts and knob locks that means picks or bypass tools, not a drill. You walk back in with the same lock and the same keys you had this morning.
What we handle

When drilling is actually necessary
Some high-security cylinders are built specifically to resist picking. A few older locks are simply broken inside, and no tool is going to turn them. In those cases, drilling the cylinder is the only realistic way in.
We don’t make that call on our own. We’ll show you what we’re seeing, explain the options, and tell you what a replacement costs before anything gets drilled. We carry common replacement locks, so you’re not left with a hole in the door overnight.
A few things that speed it up
Have your ID handy, or be ready to show it once the door is open. Wait somewhere safe and visible, especially in a parking lot or after dark. If you live in an apartment complex, check whether the leasing office is open. They may have a key, and that could save you the call.
And if the key broke off in the lock, don’t try to push the broken piece back in with another key. It almost always makes the extraction harder.

FAQ
Lockout questions
Straight answers to the things we hear most on the phone. Don’t see yours? Call and ask.
How long does it take to open a locked house door?
Once we’re on site, a standard residential lock usually takes a few minutes. High-security or damaged locks take longer, and we’ll tell you up front if we expect that.
Can you get me in if my ID is locked inside?
Yes. We open the door and then check your ID, a piece of mail, or your lease at the address before we leave. We just don’t leave until we know it’s your home.
Do you charge extra for emergency calls?
There’s no surprise emergency fee added at the door. The price we give you on the phone is the price for the job, based on the lock, the location and the time.
Should I call my landlord first?
If your leasing office is open and on site, it’s worth a quick call since they may have a key. If they’re closed or can’t come out, call us. For some rentals we may ask to see the lease or get the manager’s okay.
